There are very few stores within the community of Tolleson. Most of the choices are dollar stores; the best of these is the 99 Cents Only store. To find more variety, it is necessary to drive a few miles. The best location for a variety of shopping choices is found to the northeast of Tolleson – the Desert Sky Mall. Several popular clothing, accessory, jewelry and game stores can be found there. There is also a Dillard’s department store. Target, Wal-Mart and The Burlington Coat Factory also have stores in this vicinity. Just north of the Desert Sky Mall are two more shopping plazas, Plaza Seventyfive and Star Plaza. Both feature independent and retail outlets, bakeries and hair-cutting studios.

Just past the outskirts of Tolleson on the northeast side of town is a K-Mart retail discount store. On the northern outskirts of Tolleson, there are a few more large stores. Hobby Lobby is a craft and hobby store, also selling home furnishings for discount prices. Marshall’s is adjacent to Hobby Lobby. They are a popular discount department store, selling everything from clothes and home furnishings, to bath accessories and bedding. Shoppers who enjoy a bargain will be happy to know there are two more discount department stores near Tolleson; however, they are located several miles directly south of the community – Kohl’s and Ross. Both stores are similar to Marshall’s in what they sell, but both sell mostly clothing, with a limited selection of other goods and departments.

Several more shopping options exist northwest of Tolleson. The Pamilla Shopping Center is a shopping plaza with many different stores, hair studios and dining venues. Although stores close from time to time in the plaza, there are always clothing, shoe, specialty and home accessory stores. Near the Pamilla Center, there is also a Wal-Mart department store. Kohl’s and Ross also have store locations in this area. Directly south of the center, just below the 10 Freeway, is the Coldwater Shopping Plaza, featuring several small retail shops.
